Inspired on a photography of Caol Ila Distillery posted by Cara Baillie<\/p>\n

Caol Ila is derived from the Gaelic Caol \u00ccle for \u2018Sound of Islay\u2019 (literally \u2018Strait of Islay\u2019) in reference to the distillery\u2019s location overlooking the strait between Islay and Jura.
\nThe distillery is situated on the north-east coast of Islay with magnificent views across the Sound of Islay to the spectacular Paps of Jura.
\nCaol Ila is one of the lighter Islay whiskies, pale in colour, with peat, floral and spicy notes. As well as being sold as a single malt whisky, it is widely used (around 95% of its production) in blends such as Johnnie Walker\u2019s Black Label (owned by Diageo).
\nThis painting I made of the styles and the incredible view of the distillation room is another artistic tribute to the people who make such a wonderful whisky.
