1. SPIRITUAL HOME
Built in 1700 from locally quarried sandstone for Captain John Grant, our spiritual home, Easter Elchies House, is a fine example of a Highland manor house.
Macallan Estate, of 485 acres, is located in an area of natural beauty and is cultivated with sensitivity, in harmony with the environment.
The four seasons and the four moments of a day in Easter Elchies, the spiritual home of The Macallan.

2. THE CURIOUSLY SMALL STILLS
The Macallan's curiously small stills, among the smallest in Speyside, with their unique shape and measurements give the spirit maximum contact with copper.
In this way it provides to its «new make» the rich, fruity and full-bodied flavors characteristic of The Macallan.
There are 24 stills in total, handcrafted in copper, with an initial charge of 3900 liters each.

3. FINEST CUT
The Macallan carefully selects the highest quality liquor from the stills to ensure they create the best single malt whiskey.
This finer cut ensures that they produce their slimy mouthfeel and characteristic fruity aroma and flavor.
This small portion, or "cut," is incredibly selective and one of the best in the industry.
He is primarily responsible for the full-bodied richness of The Macallan's “new make”. This clear, colorless liquor is selected with just under 70% alcohol by volume.
This clearly robust spirit and with a "new make" character is the starting point for all of Macallan.

4. THE EXCEPTIONAL OAK CASKS
Exceptional oak casks are the largest contributor to The Macallan's exceptional quality, natural colors, and distinctive aromas and flavors.
These oak casks are crafted according to their own specifications and represent up to 80% of The Macallan's final aromas and flavors.
Because of this, The Macallan spends more per barrel than any other distillery sourcing, brewing, seasoning and caring for its casks.

5. NATURAL COLOUR
All the colors in The Macallan whiskeys, bottled by the distillery, are natural.
Only the interaction of the spirit of «new make» with the oak of the barrels of Maturation provides the rich, natural diversity of colors across the gamut, from light oak to dark mahogany.
These natural colors remain 'fixed', unlike artificial color, which fades relatively quickly in sunlight. sol.
The master whiskey maker requires great skill to achieve the consistency of the natural color from bottling to bottling.
